Parents' Guide
I'm committed to producing family-friendly content that's both high-quality and meaningful. There's a distinct lack of content made for all ages in today's society, and a lot of what does exist isn't even all that good. I want to provide entertainment that's worthwhile, encouraging, and educational, without all the adult content and strong language that's so ever-present in today's society.
With that said, many of the games I play provide at least a somewhat accurate representation of nature, and that can naturally involve some minor content concerns. I do my best to avoid any explicit sexual content (I believe that's a topic best left to parents to explain), although I may reference mates or mating in brief and scientific context, and without descriptions of what it entails. Similarly, birth is also often referenced in brief, but again without descriptive details.
The biggest concern with most of the games I play is potential violence. Many of them contain semi-realistic conflict between predators and prey, which can be somewhat violent. Most of these games aren't graphic, and conflicts are usually fairly bloodless (or highly stylized). I usually identify games that do show more blood with a content warning that plays at the beginning of the video. Generally, however, I consider most of my videos to be on the level of a PG movie-- potentially scary for younger or sensitive viewers, but fine for most.
If a game I play contains potentially objectionable language, I will mute/blur it out as necessary. In addition, I will place content warnings before any videos with miscellaneous concerns. When playing games that include humans, I do my best to avoid ones that show immodesty. On the rare occasion that I play multiplayer games with my friends, I try to make sure they also keep their language in check. I do my best to edit anything out that I catch, but there's a small chance that minor words may slip through from time to time. Please be advised that my collaborators may not always hold to the same standards I do on their own channels, so keep this in mind when allowing your child to explore related channels.
I do my best to make my channel as safe and child-friendly as possible, and this includes moderating incoming comments as carefully as I can. However, YouTube itself is far from child-friendly, and I greatly advise that children be supervised while browsing the site. I can only guarantee the content standards of my own videos, and not the videos YouTube may recommend alongside them. Please keep this in mind when allowing children to watch my videos.
For information about specific series, please feel free to browse my listings on the YouTube Series page. I've included a rating system for my content to help you evaluate what series are best for your child. Possible ratings are as follows:
Everyone (E)- Content concerns are minimal. May contain predator/prey violence and death. Clashes should not be gory. Minor blood may be shown (i.e. elk carcasses in WolfQuest). Less content concern than your average animal documentary. Roughly comparable to a G rating. May still contain sequences of drama and danger.
Low Concern (LC)- Minor content concerns. May contain predator/prey violence and death. Clashes may have minor blood but should not be gory. Similar concern to your average animal documentary. LC games may have humans as a fightable enemy. Roughly comparable to a PG rating.
NOTE: Series may also be rated LC because of content concerns in the game itself. This will be explained in an additional note on the series page.
Some Concern (SC)- Moderate content concerns. May contain predator/prey violence and death. Clashes may show blood, but should not be excessively gory. Still relatively comparable to a nature documentary and/or PG movie.
NOTE: Series may also be rated SC because of content concerns in the game itself. This will be explained in an additional note on the series page.
